What is a client template?

When multiple client files have the same properties, it's useful to create a 'client template'. It is also the best way to automate what you see for a particular client type.


A client template is assigned to a client when it's created, and will automatically apply all of your predefined settings, including 

- Workflows; 

- Reports; 

- Text templates;

- Mapping (please read this article prior to applying a mapping list to a client template); and 

- Reconciliations. 


For example:

I want all my construction companies to use the same reports, texts and reconciliations. An Admin user can create a Client Template.

1) Go to 'Templates' on firm level

You will then see your existing client templates. Here, you can also add a client template.


2) Add a new client template and fill out all of the settings you require for that client type. 

Remember, everything you select here will apply to all the clients that you assign this template to. 

It will ask you to choose the account mapping for those clients (leave blank if multiple mapping lists apply), and a default workflow. You can then select the reports, texts and any other workflows you' like to add!


When you create a new client, you will be asked which 'Client Template' you want to use. (You can also edit this by selecting 'edit client') By assigning a client to a 'client template', you'll add all workflows, texts, reports and reconciliations to that particular client.



Good to know: 

- You can still make changes at the client level (if you want to add a specific report etc)

- If there are reports activated in the company already (or text templates or reconciliations), they will stay active. This feature only adds new templates to the company

- If you have activated the client template for a number of clients and afterwards you make updates to any elements of the client template at the firm level (admins), these updates will automatically be added to the clients where the template is already active
