How to sync Sage50 data from a backup-file?
It is possible in Sage50 (as well as many other accounting tools) to import data from a backup-file (given by a customer for example).
Important: The Silverfin sync will be set up on one of your servers, and will be linked to a certain (shared) folder on that server. You must ensure that your Sage backup file is stored on that same server! If your restored Sage50 data is not within that folder, our Silverfin sync will never be able to read that data.
How to save your backup file:
Below is an example that Sage50 propose to save the restored data on the local C-drive. This is fine if your Silverfin Sage driver is also configured to read that folder. However, if the Silverfin sync is set-up on a different server and configured to different read only folder, it'll never read that data on your local C-drive!
So what do you need to do?
- Use the Change-button and go to the data-folder the Silverfin sync is linked to (f.i. \\server_name\Data\Sage50\Silverfin_files).
- Restore your data there into a sub-folder. Give your folder a name. The name of the folder will be used as a 'sync-reference'; this is used so the Silverfin sync knows which data subfolder it has to import into Silverfin.
If you don't use backup-files with Sage50, this problem will never occur.
While setting up the sync with Sage50 in Silverfin, you'll also need to provide the correct credentials that were used to restore the file:
If you leave this blank, a standard account will be used that must have access to the Sage50-file restored above.
